Over 340 players cannot play in Belmore United FC colours during the 2014 Winter Football Season!
Belmore United Football Club (also known as Belmore Hercules Soccer Club) will not be participating in the local Association 2014 competitions (CDSFA, ie, Canterbury District Soccer Football Association) competitions for the first time since 1971.
The Official Committee of Belmore United FC would like to acknowledge the enormous goodwill from our players, coaches, managers, supporters, sponsors, corporate partners, friends and the community during 2013 as well as the off-season which proved challenging.
In the beginning of March 2014, the Club, on behalf of its members, applied to the NSW Supreme Court to resolve matters regarding re-affiliation with the CDSFA and other concerns. By about mid-March CDSFA reconsidered the Club’s application for re-affiliation, but decided to reject it and discontinue the membership of the Club.
The Supreme Court proceedings subsequently led to consent Orders between Pladas and Balaouras groups, whereby the parties agreed that Pladas group is authorised to call an EGM of the Club in accordance with the Constitution.
The Club is currently looking at all the potential opportunities for 2014 and 2015, after re-affiliation was not approved.
Due to the circumstances that arose in the off-season, Football NSW State League teams, which were due to take part in the 2014 FNSW Men's State League II, have also been affected and will not participate in 2014 competitions.
The Club has, at all times, sought to protect the rights of its members and players to be part of local Association and State League football in 2014, however over 340+ players will not have the opportunity to play in these competitions, hence why the Club has assisted players where possible affected by these circumstances.
The Pladas led Committee will be making further key announcements in the near future regarding 2014 and 2015 operations and activities.
If you are a Belmore United FC current or former player, coach, manager or a supporter of the Club or a grassroots football supporter in general and have a view about how a volunteer-based community football Club such as Belmore United FC was impacted by the CDSFA or Football NSW rulings please call or email your views and thoughts to:
